Paris to Périgord Adventure and Truffle Hunt



 

Back by popular demand, The Périgord Adventure - In search of Black diamonds! If you enjoy French food and adore French culture you’re going to LOVE this tour! We will be going deep into the Dordogne region in search of the elusive and delicious subterranean truffles, also known as Black Diamonds, for their rich ebony color and extraordinary value. The last two weeks of January is the height of the truffle season and truffle markets grace the streets in the villages of this area. We will also partake of foie gras, duck, and traditional truffle hunting with dogs. We have organized a unique adventure to explore the towns, taste the delicious foods, and experience this marvelous gastronomic tradition. I hope you can join us as we travel from Paris to Périgord to visit this very historic and wonderfully charming area of France.

 

Wednesday, 29 January 2020:  Leave Paris by Mini Van at 8:00 am. Drive direct to the town of Périgueux in time for lunch. After lunch we will visit this beautiful and historic city. We arrive at our hotel by 6:00 pm for dinner together.

Thursday, 30 January 2020: Breakfast at hotel.  Traditional truffle hunt with dogs; visit geese farm where we will be able to sample many products of the farm;  after lunch we return to the hotel for a Duck cooking class (we will prepare a full roast duck and foie gras). When you register for this activity you must choose either “with cooking class”, or opt out with “NO ducking way”, the price will reflect your choice. If you would rather not take the class you can go exploring in Sorges, or relax until dinner.

Friday, 31 January 2020: Breakfast at the hotel. We leave our hotel by 9:00 am visit Brantome truffle market and tour one of “les Plus Beaux Detours” in France. Brantome is often called the Venice of Dordogne. Brantome’s Abbey was built by Charlemagne in 769 A.D. and is the main historical highlight of the town. Finally, we will return to Paris, driving direct 5 hours, arriving around 8-8:30 pm into Montparnasse.

* Lesson comes with a fully dressed duck to prepare which you will share with your cooking partner. The chef will vacuum pack everything into sterilized containers to make transportation and storage easy.

**The hotel is situated in ‘The World Capital of Truffles’, Sorges en Périgord (Dordogne). It is a 3-star Hotel with a Michelin Platted Restaurant.
