The beautiful sights and colors of this rich and lively region beckon to you in April!  Come join us for a weekend in Aix-en-Provence, hosted by Valerie Sutter, who, for past 20 years has had an apartment there and knows the region well.  Valerie proposes a Friday night walk around the town, with dinner on the famous Cours Mirabeau; a Saturday morning visit to the dynamic marché, known for its fantastic choices and prices, then an outing to the unique Pont du Gard, the aquaduct constructed by the Romans and still standing proud today.  Sunday we visit the charming seaside port of Cassis, with an incontournable boat ride to the unforgettable Calanques, with a private wine dégustation afterwards.

Valerie Sutter, Founder and Director of The French Traveler, has been a member of AWG since 2015. Read more about Valerie and her tours in France on her French Traveler website.

Mont Ste-Victoire

Mont Ste-Victoire

The region is compelling, contrasting, and lively, perfect for a break from Paris.  No wonder the Impressionist masters made Provence their home; Cezanne was born in Aix and painted the Mont Ste-Victoire over and over. The weather is delightful in April: warm sunny days and cool nights.  Bring good walking shoes.  Accommodations at the stately Aquabella Hotel, where an authentic Roman spa was discovered on the premises during construction and has been preserved.
