What to expect and schedule Gola Island

Join us for our guided day trip to Gola Island by sea kayak or hired ferry, weather dependent.  Gola (Oileán Ghabhla) is a remote island off the Gweedore Coast. So isolated it often does not even appear in travel books. Ferry service is limited to only certain times of the year, therefore the best way to access this wee isle is by sea kayak or hired boat. This island was abandoned in the 1960’s, however in the 90’s a few hearty souls retuned to take up residence.

Schedule:

8:30 Meet in from of the shop at Ardglass Cottages in Portsalon

8:30-9:30 Travel inland directly to Gweedore Coast.

10am Prepare and Travel by sea kayak to Gola Island

11am Arrive at Gola Island and explore with guide or on your own.

1:00 Lunch at local eatery

3:00 Meet back at boat launch to return to Gweedore Coast

4:00 pm Arrive back at Ardglass Cottages
